Lectade Oral Rehydration Therapy is a water-soluble electrolyte replacer for dehydrated animals containing glucose. Lectade comes in single sachets and makes 2 litres of fluid. It is a non-antibiotic supportive treatment. Glucose and glycine are actively absorbed by the intestinal tract causing water and sodium to be absorbed simultaneously with these nutrients. This ensures a high degree of rehydration in scouring and dehydrated dogs, cats and young farm animals.

Dosage and Administration

Add the contents of section A and section B to 2 L of warm water. Then, stir until dissolved, and feed the quantity prescribed. Refrigerate the remainder for next use, but prepare a fresh solution daily. Always use Sections A and B together. To prepare 500 mL of solution, 1 level 5 mL medicine spoonful of powder from section A to 3 heaped spoonfuls of powder from section B; stir until dissolved.

Approximately 75% of dogs find Lectade palatable and will drink the solution voluntarily, or you can use a dosing syringe. Palatability for cats is however variable. Continue treatment for one to two days after the animal appears clinically recovered and is feeding normally.
