Passwell COSY Heat Pad 10W

The Passwell COSY Heat Pad 10W is a reliable and Australian-made heat pad for all animals. Passwell is a trusted Australian brand, and this heat pad is used by veterinarians, breeders and wildlife carers alike. The pad is especially well suited for use with newborn puppies as these cannot thermoregulate themselves, causing them to become cold easily.

The Passwell COSY Heat Pad 10W is covered in soft, non-toxic PVC (spill safe) and wipes down with a damp cloth.  The pad measures 26cm x 36cm and is fitted with a cut-off switch, which prevents overheating. It also has a 1 yr manufacturer’s warranty.

The pad heats up the area underneath the animal and produces a surface temperature 15-20°C above room temperature.  Whilst the pad provides gentle and safe warmth, it remains important that animals are able to move away from the heat pad.

Use the Cosy Heat Pad in the following situations:

• Newborn puppies: Place the pad under soft bedding, and ensure that there is space on all sides for puppies to get off. We recommend a 10cm zone.
• Hanging pouches for orphaned marsupials: Place the pad at the back of the pouch and put insulation between the pad and the animal.
• Veterinarians: use on operating tables and in recovery rooms
• Reptiles: Place at one end of the enclosure so reptiles can move on or off the heated area. Cover with a layer of sand or flat rock
• Birds & Animals: Boxes and hospital cages. Place the pad underneath or inside a box or cage.
• Dog & Cat Beds: Place underneath bedding and provide protection from chewing.

Directions:

Plug the COSY heat pad into a standard 240-volt electrical outlet. It will gradually heat up the area under the animal, subsequently producing a surface temperature of about 15-20°C above room temperature.

Animals need to have the ability to move off the heated area they are uncomfortable, and the temperature where the animal rests should be monitored with a thermometer. The temperature should be between 20°C and 35°C, depending on the age and type of animal. Above all, seek advice from a veterinarian or experienced animal carer if unsure of your animal’s needs.

When the room temperature is less than 10°C, animals should be as close as practicable to the pad surface. When room temperature exceeds 10°C, animals should be insulated from the pad surface with layers of woollen fabric. The thickness of insulation required depends on the room temperature and should be adjusted so that the animal is comfortable.

Always keep in mind that heat stress can occur if the temperature is too high.  Furthermore, the Cosy Heat Pad is fitted with a cut-off switch, which limits the surface temperature of the pad. This prevents excessively high temperatures.

Cleaning:

Clean the outer PVC cover with a damp cloth or sponge after unplugging the device from the power outlet. Most importantly, do not immerse the pad in water.
